Rock or roll

Shall we have a quick update? Yes, why not...

Those of you who passed over the chance to see British Sea Power play on Friday also missed the best opening to a pop concert of all time (yes, underlined!). BSP came onstage to “Men Together Today” sung live by The London Bulgarian Choir. I will never again view that particular acapella peculiarity as merely the opening noises at the start of a record. It was spine-tingling. In fact, I’d go so far as to say spine affirming; I’m absolutely certain that I have one now after that experience.

The aforementioned ensemble were also the opening band on the night, and far more enjoyable it was than some random bunch of scrawny indie kids ambling onto the stage carrying scratchy guitars (any day). There were around forty people in the choir (thirty-five women), and I was in love with about thirty of them (the other five were too old for me). I’m not superficial or anything, though; Great Uncle Bulgaria was always my favourite womble.

Did I ever mention that Half Man Half Biscuit were bloody brilliant last Thursday? For a supposed bunch of slackers, their set was outrageously generous (an hour and fifty minutes in total). This, of course, from a band whose tour in support of their latest album comprises six dates, spread over six months.

I washed my net curtains this morning. Rock and roll, eh? And then I went for a walk by the river, wearing my new British Sea Power t-shirt. That’s six of them now. Sorry, I couldn’t resist it.

Right, on now to the thankless Sunday night task of sending e-mails to girls on the terrible Match.com website. Nobody ever replies, of course; but what else can you do? I’m trying, you know. Really trying.

Hope you’ve had a good weekend.

I ended up fancying 5 of the bulgarian choir in the end as one was hidden when I saw you. Again the rest were too old for me, although that just means they were over 25. I agree they were absolutely brilliant.

everyone that night had at least one sexy girl present which made the night even more enjoyable. I think I'm in love with the bassist from Film School the most especially after seeing her close up last night. They played the Social she wasn't in my bed, although yes being at the social means I was closer to her than I would be in my bed.

*hopes mark hasn't got any film school members as live journal friends*

I wasn't able to be in love with the Film School bassist on this occasion, because there were too many Bulgarians wandering around in the audience at the time!

you know how you're always saying you're 20-something? That is so clearly a lie because you have just admitted you own net curtains and they are not something put there by your landlord (I mean technically they are since you are your landlord). OLD MAN.

Ha ha, I bought my net curtains when I was twenty-five years old, you know! One of the first things I bought when I moved into my current flat.

Wow, putting it in terms of age like that, it's amazing that they need a wash so soon; as I'm only about twenty-six or something now...

God, are HMHB still going? No surprise that they're still great live. Have you heard their little gem Vatican Broadside ("who the hell are Slipknot?")

Good luck with the young ladies on Match.com - here's hoping at least one gets back to you.

You'll be pleased to hear that they played Vatican Broadside last Thursday. Well, they seemed to play everything last Thursday!
